In a difficult period such as we are living through, it is a distinct relief to be able to share some good news.
The 2016 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino (with an official release date in February) is encountering great enthusiasm from international critics, and it is a pleasure to report that our Giodo 2016 en primeur is receiving very warm attention and tributes by top figures in the world of wine.
James Suckling, for one, bestowed on it his absolute highest score of 100 points, while German Master of Wine Markus del Monego granted only one point less, at 99, in his review in Tastingbook.com, as did Raffaele Vecchione, in winescritic.com. Monica Larner of Robertpaker.com joined this illustrious group with a 98, her second highest score for the vintage, a score repeated by an enthusiastic Daniele Cernilli in DoctorWine. Decanter lauded our work with a 95, and Jancis Robinson thrilled us with her remarkable 17/20. As a bookend, another perfect 100 was awarded by Luca Gardini in his gardininotes.com.
While we’re waiting for that February moment, we’re continuing to uncork our star of the moment, Giodo Brunello di Montalcino 2015.
