Prètto Brunello di Montalcino
Prètto Brunello di Montalcino
Giodo introduces Prètto, a new Brunello di Montalcino label making its debut with the 2021 vintage. The name, meaning in Italian “true, straightforward, sincere”, reflects the very spirit of the wine: an immediate, genuine expression of Sangiovese, crafted to resonate with new generations while preserving depth and authenticity.
Prètto originates from the same vineyards and undergoes the same meticulous multi-stage manual selection as Brunello di Montalcino Giodo, the estate’s flagship wine, first released with the 2009 vintage. The distinction between the two is defined in the cellar as well, during ageing: from French tonneaux of 500, 700 and 2,700 litres, the finest expressions showing harmony, elegance, aromatic finesse, and ageing potential are destined for Giodo Brunello; Prètto, on the other hand, is shaped from those lots that reveal greater freshness, vibrancy and approachable tannins.
Both wines are guided by the same production philosophy: hand-harvested grapes from the vineyards on the hills between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Sant’Antimo, vinification in stainless steel, with maceration times tailored to the desired balance of structure and elegance, followed by approximately 30 months of ageing in tonneaux, six months in concrete vats for natural rebalancing, and approx 18 months in bottle.
